INTRODUCTION

Dear Macomb County Voters,

       My campaign is based on truth, honesty and integrity; not lies, half-truths, or exaggerations of the facts like my opponent’s campaign. My decision to run for Probate Court Judge against an incumbent was made by me after personally witnessing what was going on "behind closed doors" at the court. No attorney, judge, or other individual "got me to run" or approached me to run for this office as the incumbent would have you believe. I was raised by parents who taught me values, morals, right from wrong, and to step up when I saw something wrong. I was also guided by prayer and the Word of God to not sit idly by and do nothing or remain indifferent. (Proverbs 24:10). So, after careful consideration, I threw my hat into the political ring to make a difference here in Macomb County and to make a change for the better.

       As a taxpayer, I was outraged by the incumbent’s part time hours and lax work attitude while my tax dollars were paying her full time salary and benefits. As an attorney I was offended by her lack of knowledge of the law and her mishandling of the case files. As a court administrator, I was frustrated with the numerous adjournments, poor docket management, and length of time the cases remained outstanding and unresolved. This was and is a terrible cost and inconvenience to the court, litigants, families and the attorneys. As the parent of a special needs daughter, I was angered at how many times the incumbent inconvenienced the developmentally disabled individual and their families, often leaving them sit for hours in the lobby waiting for their hearing while she was late returning from a 2 or 3 hour lunch.

       The incumbent’s actions have NOT remained above suspicion over the last 6 years and the citizens of the county DESERVE BETTER! Voters put a trust in you when you’re elected into office. That trust should not be broken and if it is, then that individual should be removed from office. You the voter deserve a judge who is fair, ethical and accountable. Please make your voice count and make a change for the better here in Macomb County. Bring trust and integrity back to the Probate Court by voting for me, Debra Lux-Roland, on November 4th.
