A PERSONAL LETTER TO THE CITIZENS

OF MACOMB COUNTY FROM DEBRA LUX-ROLAND

Dear Macomb County Citizens,

I don’t think I’m committing political suicide with this letter but it is being written and sent without the advice of a campaign manager or high-priced or high-powered political consultant. It’s being written by me (not anonymously or by some third party) to set the record straight since there are so many lies and half-truths out there about me.

I stand 100% behind my statements as being the truth in my campaign literature and on my website. I am engaging in a truthful campaign. I am not engaging in political mudslinging! The truths that the voters need to know happen to be negative about Judge Kathryn George but that does not mean I’m engaging “in a lie-filled campaign” . I did not create or fabricate the truths nor did I reference “fictional articles from newspapers” in any of my campaign pieces.

My opponent in her campaign literature, and in a recent email being circulated by a “Richard Martin“, continues to resort to lies, misrepresentations and exaggerations of the truth, both about herself and now about me. In fact, she has decided to “tear me down” with lies and exaggerations to “build herself up” and to focus your attention off all of her many indiscretions that have come under public scrutiny.

By her own words, “creating and spreading untruths in any election is unethical”, especially in a judicial election. I am guilty of being a hard worker as an attorney; however, I really don’t have skeletons in my closet, so Judge George had to create skeletons, half-truths, lies and exaggerations about me.

If I don’t respond to Judge George’s literature, email and the attack on my character, the public is left with additional lies, half-truths, and exaggerations. If I do respond, I’m accused of “political mudslinging” or “running a negative campaign”. Does that sound like a “catch 22” situation? Those that know me and my reputation know that I have integrity and will not resort to the same tricks and tactics as my opponent. Therefore, I will continue to “speak the truth to power” because I answer to a higher authority than Judge George. I started this race by telling my manager that I would not run a “dirty campaign” and that I would speak the truth and I will finish my campaign on that same principal.

I’m in this race for the win because I know I can make a positive difference at the court. However, come November 5th, win or lose, I will hold my head high because I ran a truth based campaign and fought for a much needed change when no one else wanted to step up against an incumbent.

The injustices and problems I saw at the court, due in great part to Judge George, were not fictitious, imaginary, or fabricated by me. They were also witnessed by the court employees, the attorneys who practiced in the court, the independent auditors, and the public, to name a number of the people who can substantiate the problems. Is everyone lying? So, I will not walk in fear, step down, or let my opponent intimidate me, especially with her lie filled campaign, because I am speaking the truth.

I invite anyone to call me at 586-263-7141 or email me at dluxroland@comcast.net to discuss any allegations made about me by Judge George in her literature or emails. I have nothing to hide and I will tell you the truth about any statements or allegations made in Judge George’s materials.. I have been an honest, hardworking and reputable attorney for 25 years in this county and I will not let this campaign mar my reputation. If anyone is interested in the truth -vs.-Judge George’s fiction, lies and exaggerations that have been circulated, please visit my website at www.DLuxRoland.com or contact me directly.. Obviously, the “Truths” are too lengthy to discuss in this letter.

I will make a positive change for the better here in Macomb County as your next Probate Court Judge. Thank you for taking the time to read this and please pass it along to all of your family and friends so the truth is made known.

Respectfully and Sincerely,

Debbie Lux-Roland

Candidate for Macomb County Probate Judge
